Nateby

Nateby is a civil Parish in north Lancashire, situated at the northern end of the Lancashire plain and to the west of the small rural market town of Garstang. The area, to the north of the River Wyre, known as Over Wyre and is part of the Borough of Wyre whose main council offices are at Poulton Le Fylde to the south of the River Wyre which gives the name for the area.

The parish is predominantly agricultural with diversification from farming into other rural enterprises.

There is a wrought iron blacksmiths producing gates, fences and wrought iron decorative pieces. A carpentry and joinery works in the main village area.

The parish has two small camping and caravan sites and two fisheries catering for anglers.

For many visitors the first sight of Nateby will be travelling on the A6 past Garstang where the one public house in Nateby, The Bellflower, is alongside the road at the Longmoor Lane, Moor Lane crossroads, Nateby actually extends a little to the East of the A6 at this point.

Longmoor Lane is also the location for the small Industrial estate and builders merchants serving the local area.

The Lancaster Canal passes through Nateby and two marinas, Bridge House Marina and Garstang Marina, the largest marina on the Lancaster Canal, are located north of bridge 64 two hundred yards from the Bellflower pub.

The now dismantled Garstang Knott End railway ran through Nateby and had a station or halt for Nateby.

The main village about a mile west of the Bellflower has the local Nateby primary school serving children to the age of eleven when the nearest senior school is Garstang Community Academy at Bowgreave.
