Good pub, popular meeting place, good beer, friendly lively crowd and a warm welcome from the Landlord. Bad experience in here Christmas eve afternoon where a miserable bar maid handed me my pint with fingers all over the top of the glass. We have down graded our recommendation because of that. Pub: RECOMMENDED.

An excellent atmosphere in this ancient building both in the bar and in the dining room. The patio is particularly popular in the summer months being alongside the canal basin. Pub: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The food at the Tythe Barn is quick service meals you order at the serving area and give your table number, which can also be outside on the Patio. There is no booking system here you come along find a table then order. Restaurant going through a bad patch at the moment. Restaurant: NOT AT THE MOMENT.
A nice pub with longstanding Landlord and Landlady who obviously know how to run a good pub. A nice pint in nice surroundings and a great Juke Box which does not overpower the pub. Pub: RECOMMENDED.
Pickerings bar is comfortable but not a traditional pub atmosphere, a nice place and popular with Catterall locals. The venue is popular with organisations holding meetings and functions. Pub: WORTH A VISIT.

A very pleasant and friendly village pub serving a decent pint. Comfortable bar with an open log fire in winter. The same landlord and landlady for at least the eight years I have been visiting keep a close eye on things and run an excellent pub. Separate dining room with excellent meals, which can also be enjoyed in the bar if you prefer. Takeaway pizza if your peckish when you leave. Pub: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The food at The Patten Arms has been excellent for many years and often has something a little different on offer, I remember roast Wood Pidgeon which was excellent. In April we went on a Sunday evening and two of us selected from the Sunday Lunch menu which offers two or three courses, at a very good price, and one from the specials board. The food was excellent, the presentation was outstanding and the service faultless, prices are reasonable with Sunday Lunch a real bargain. Restaurant: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
